ZTE seems to have another
high end smartphone in development that might be heading to the Chinese market
soon. A headset sporting the model number ZTE A2017 has been spotted passing
through China’s TENAA regulatory agency today, revealing a good look into its
internal specifications. The same model was spotted in a GFXBench listing back
in March. Even though we can’t say that its Axon 2 but it certainly looks like
an Axon brother.
Diving right into the specs
reveals a 5.5-inch smartphone with a QHD (2560×1400) resolution OLED
display. The headset boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and
64GB of internal storage with microSD card expansion slot. There is also a 20-megapixel
rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, a fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C
port, and a 3,140mAh battery, complete with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow goodness bringing the parts together.
A look at the pictures also reveals a power button and volume rocker on
the right-hand side, the fingerprint scanner is placed on the back, and there’s
what appears to be a stereo front facing speaker design at the top bottom too.
The smartphone measures 154 x 77 x 9.8mm and weighs 175 grams.
Clearly this is a high-end handset, and judging by the look of it, this
could well be the successor the ZTE Axon. Last year, a selection of ZTE Axon
models including the highly spec’d Axon Pro made their way to the US market
through Amazon, and in India so we may see something similar for the A2017.
